Vineyard Notes
Vineyard Notes
Rockpile is 15,000 acres of rocky, mountainous land. It's influenced by Lake Sonoma which is manmade reservoir.  Rockpile lies at the northern tip of the AVA.  It sits above 2000 feet above sea level and 10 miles from the pacific ocean,  setting these vines above the fog layer. At this elevation, the vines are gently cooled by onshore breezes.
Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
We are so excited to offer this single Varietal, notably a blending grape from Bordeaux, it is lighter in body than Cabernet Sauvignon and can be paired with a variety of foods.  The 2018 Cabernet Franc is medium bodied. The wine  is floral with hints of violets, cherry taffy and toasted peppercorns.. The tannins and the acidity are bright in this vintage and are well balanced. Showcasing this wine in a decanter will elevate all the aromas and allow the tannins to develop quickly.
Winemaker Notes
Winemaker Notes
2018 offered winemakers an exceptional year. Rockpile had a long growing season with moderate temperatures. Sonoma encountered an increase in rainfall in the spring, with some notable heat spikes in mid-summer months.  However, it was a mild summer which created tolerable conditions for fruit to mature slowly without additional heat stress. This is notable vintage and worthy of collectors to hold on to.
