Vineyard Notes
Paradise Ridge has been lucky enough to be working with the Mountainous Branham Vineyard since 2010, which has enabled us to collaborate closely with the vineyard team to create vineyards that are both in balance and harmony with the rugged and extreme terrain. This harvest the fruit was at optimum levels of ripeness, allowing us to truly showcase this varietal and the flavors of Rockpile This Malbec wine comes from grapes harvested in early October, that were transported down the mountain to the winery in the early hours of the morning where they were gently de stemmed, maintaining as many whole berries as possible.

As the above allures to – we develop and create this wine in the vineyard, and with careful and diligent handling that helps us produce this unique wine through the fermentation process. During the next year and a half this wine was aged in French oak to develop additional nuances and texture. Tiny amounts of both Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Verdot were blended into the Malbec for complexity and balance while at the same time showcasing that very special place ‘Rockpile’. The blending of Petite Verdot brings a pretty floral, a blue fruit component to the blend, that with Malbec’s bright fruitiness and vibrance accentuates both the nose and palate. The Cabernet Sauvignon component is for additional depth and structure.
