Light, straw- yellow in the glass, the nose is bright with lemon peel, orange blossom and candied ginger.  Vibrant acidity and citrus notes create a nervy structure that evolves into flavors of lemon meringue, marzipan and crushed rock.  This is a fresh style of chardonnay that quenches the thirst and is difficult to drink slowly, please drink responsibly!

About
Vineyard Notes
Vineyard Notes
Nagasawa Vineyard sits at 600ft of elevation on ancient volcanic soil. The vineyard is planted to the old heritage clone of Wente and a newer block of Eden. Yields for these clones are typically low as it is farmed for its quality rather than quantity. 2023 was once again a lower than usual production and while we are sorry to have so little of this wine, the quality is incredible. The Vineyard Select blend is comprised of 82% Eden and 18% Wente clone. Yield: 0.7 tons/acre.

Winemaker Notes
2023 will go down as one of the most phenomenal vintages in California history.  Higher than average rainfall kicked off the growing season which led to a successful bloom.  A cooler spring led to a growing season that was 14 days behind 2022.  The vintage remained cool with plenty of sunshine and little moisture allowing for long hang times and preservation of acidity.  We picked late with low sugars, balanced chemistry and mature tannins.  Perfect!!
Production Notes
Production Notes
The grapes were whole–cluster pressed to tank and cold settled overnight, then racked off heavy solids to barrel. We try to retain the perfect balance of solids for palate weight and complexity. The juice was fermented with indigenous yeast to dryness. Malolactic fermentation was long and cool, also using indigenous flora.
