2016 Pinot Noir, Vineyard Select, Russian River 13.7% 750ml
All our Estate Vineyards are organically farmed and influenced by the ‘Bio dynamic’ philosophy of caring for ‘our earth’. This vineyard is named after Walter Byck, the founder and patriarch of Paradise Ridge Winery.
These Pinot Noir vines are grown in both alluvial and volcanic well drained soils at 600 feet above sea level on the eastern fringes of the Russian River Valley. This site is heavily influenced by both the cooling onshore winds from the Pacific Ocean and the early morning fog pattern driven from the south to the Petaluma Gap.
Each and every vine is individually managed with the mind to grow the wine in the vineyard; careful control of cropping and meticulous canopy management allows us to fully express this delicate varietal with both site and vintage in mind.
As a part of our philosophy to create wines that express the unique characters from a vineyard and vintage, we present this wine harvested from a few select rows from our Estate using both the Pommard and 777 Clones of Pinot Noir. Sustainable farming practices alone with a natural fermentation and a judicious selection of French oak for aging allow us to craft a distinctive and timeless wine. Careful cellaring will reward those with patience.
